Tacky nor Not?

so i'm finally getting around to planting the last few tomato seedlings. i apparently over estimated the space i had since i now have two more seedlings and no where in the back garden to place them. recently this spring i had to pull two bushes that had not surived last summers heat. that being said, i have just enough space in my front yard for those two tomato seedlings. so is it tacky to place vegetable plants in the front yard? i personally think that its a good use of space since i haven't replaced those bushes yet (and no great ideas for replacesments). i've asked a few people and opinions seemed to be divided. just curious to get everyone elses thought on the subject........

there are certain unspoken social mores about vegetables in the front, and remember what you thought about the people with chickens in their front yard??? that being said, who in the hell cares? plant them there. i want more tomatoes to eat :)

I grew tomatoes and peppers in our front bed a couple of years ago (have since moved them to the deck now that we have one), but I still do plant veggies there - I have some bush pickles out there as we speak. I say go for it, who gives a flying fig what anyone else thinks? In these tough economic times, more and more people are turning to growing their own.

I have the perfect solution to your dilemma - Ikea has gigantic terra cotta pots for $5.99. BARGAIN!

They are seriously big and heavy, so if you decide to go for it, do yourself a favor and pick up the rolling plant stand too. They make moving the pots a breeze. You'll be able to fit both tomato plants in one pot.

Just do it who cares what your neighbors think!!! I think a big old vegetable garden in the middle of the front yard looks a little awkward but if its not front and center who gives a shit.

BTW- I am probably heading to the Sayler Park Farmer's Market today after reading your blog post!
